The former NYLO Dallas South Side is getting a new look thanks to a transformation by local firm Studio 11 Design. Now dubbed CANVAS Hotel Dallas, the art-centric property is created and managed by INTRIGUE Hotels & Resorts, the independent lifestyle division of Interstate Hotels & Resorts. Matthews Southwest is the lead developer and co-owner.
The 76 art-infused rooms and public spaces paint a renewed perspective of the original building, one that was integral to the history of South Dallas. The century-old building has been preserved, refurbished and is now LEED certified.
When guests enter the property, they are greeted by the first-level lobby and restaurant that are grounded in a living room feel. Social spaces are top of mind in the aesthetic, with seating areas arranged in an industrial space and decorated with local and bespoke accents from the Dallas area. The restaurant’s dining area converts into flexible meeting space, divided by a sliding glass partition. Bespoke carpeting, lighting and artwork are showcased throughout all public areas and guest hallways. Loft-style guestrooms feature 10- to 12-ft.-high ceilings, pressed concrete flooring and exposed brick. More room renovations are slated for 2019.
CANVAS Hotel Dallas offers two art-inspired F&B venues. Chef’s Palette is the redesigned first-level lounge and restaurant, while the rooftop bar, formerly known as SODA, has been refreshed and renamed The Gallery Rooftop Lounge.
