The Capella Sanya luxury hotel is set to debut late this year along the Blessed Bay coastline of Hainan Island in China. Two high-profile designers—Bill Bensley, who runs an eponymous design studio in Bangkok, and Jean-Michel Gathy of Malaysian-based Denniston—are collaborating on the luxury hotel’s interiors.
Inspired by a Chinese trader’s adventures along the historic Silk Road, the 190-key Capella Sanya draws from the culture and heritage of ethnic communities along the trade route. Accommodations include executive suites, two- to four-bedroom villas, a presidential suite within the Manor House and five low-rise mansions.
The hotel will also feature six dining concepts, including a signature restaurant, authentic Chinese, a noodle bar and lobby lounge.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to introduce the Capella Experience to China’s leading resort destination,” says Nicholas Clayton, ceo of Capella Hotel Group.
He Jingang, chairman of China Gezhouba Real Estate added, “Capella Sanya will be the new benchmark for China’s luxury beach resorts. Our pursuit of excellence in real estate development is complemented by Capella Hotel Group’s expertise in creating exceptional guest experiences.”
Headquartered in Singapore with offices in China, Europe and the U.S., Capella Hotel Group operates hotels in Dusseldorf, Germany; Saint Lucia; Shanghai; and Singapore. Its development pipeline includes projects in Ubud, Indonesia; Bangkok; Maldives; and Sydney.
