Akron, Ohio, developer Tony Troppe will open the 71-room Blu-Tique Hotel on New Year’s Eve, an anchor in his efforts to redevelop the arts district in the city’s downtown area. Granger Township, Ohio-based Pride One Construction was general contractor for the $10 million project, while Riley Hotel Group will manage it. Troppe, Pride One and Riley Hotel Group are all investors in the project.
The eight-story hotel is housed in the former United Cigar Company building and offices. The midcentury modern design of the 50,000-sq.-ft. property features a revolving glass door at the hotel’s entrance. This door leads to the lobby, which showcases walnut wood finishes, marble and a starburst chandelier above the front desk.
