Boutique Design Events and Trade Fairs

Twenty-eight products for hospitality interiors received honors in this year’s Best of BDNY Product Design Competition during Boutique Design New York (BDNY), which was held Nov. 11-12 at the Javits Center in Manhattan. The annual competition recognizes designers and manufacturers of products that demonstrate functional and aesthetic progress, as well as innovation in their respective categories.

Winners and finalists were selected by a jury of three design professionals. Judges for the Product Design competition were: Iris Ledesma, senior interior designer, Design Poole Inc.; Nicole Mysinger-Duty, associate, interior design, CR architecture + design; and Sarah Smallwood, design director, Great Wolf Resorts.

The winner for Best in Show was AIIR Collection, BREA Collection, CIRQL Collection and MBRACE Collection Side Tables by Dedon (shown). For a full list of winners and finalists in each category, please visit

A separate panel of judges also awarded honors for Best Exhibit at the two-day trade fair. Displays were selected based on creativity in design, visual impact, effective and efficient use of materials and an outstanding use of space, color, texture, lighting and graphics. The judges for that competition were: Adrianne Korczynski, vice president, creative director, FRCH Design Worldwide; Monica Meade, senior manager, interior design, global design Americas, Marriott Intl.; and Steve Rugo, principal, Rugo/Raff Ltd. Architects.
