The Darcy hotel is set to debut next month near Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. Designed by Los Angeles-based Beleco, the 226-key property’s interiors draw inspiration from European influences and the city’s cosmopolitan community.

KHP Capital Partners acquired the hotel, which formerly flew Hilton’s DoubleTree flag, in May 2016, the Washington Business Journalreports

Lead designer Christian Schnyder, Beleco’s owner and principal, has blended European-style elements of wood tones with pops of distressed metals and vibrant colors to create what project participants describe as a “high-end-yet-edgy” aesthetic for the hotel, which is part of Hilton’s Curio collection. (Schnyder will be a panelist on the “Keep ‘Em Coming: Secrets for Getting Repeat Client Buy-In” session at next week’s BDwest.)

The Darcy’s arrival experience will feature a residential-style lobby decked out with armchairs, luminous wallpaper and traditional architectural elements, such as wooden archways showcasing rose carvings that pay tribute to the district’s city flower. A custom-designed brass sculpture of roses by artist Kirk Maxson will also reference the city flower. That sculpture will appear to float behind the front desk, contrasting against a textured, black-painted wall of exposed brick. Nearby, an anteroom will be accented with mid-century modern furniture.

The hotel’s art-centric accommodations, including 37 suites, will showcase silhouetted profiles over the headboards, referencing the local tradition of public figure and family portraiture. Botanical photography; a fashion-inspired color palette of forest green and medium gray; aquamarine gemstone lamps; wall sconces with pearl accents; decorative pillows portraying city botanicals such as cherry blossoms and magnolia trees; desks of bronze with smoked glass; and custom-designed desk chairs with pentagon patterns will also decorate the guest rooms and suites. Guest bathrooms will be dressed with tattoo-inspired artworks detailed with handshakes as a nod to the city’s political and business deals, as well as art deco-style tiles and 21st-century-inspired mirrors with rounded edges.

The hotel, which will be managed by Sage Hospitality, will also offer creative programming that leverages local partnerships, such as one with men’s clothing company READ WALL, which will create a haberdashery offering ties, cuff links and other accessories within the hotel. The property also plans to host a bi-monthly flower bar in the lobby through a partnership with local start-up Urban Stems. As part of the Darcy Kids program, families who book a suite will be provided with an in-room tent shaped like an ice cream truck.
