Atlanta-based BLUR Workshop is at the helm of the multimillion-dollar renovation of The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte, which includes the property’s guestrooms and public spaces.
The design is inspired by North Carolina’s history, and the refresh comes just in time for the hotel’s 17th anniversary. The lobby features a neutral palette of white, gold and gray, showcasing hand-painted gold accents that hearken to the North Carolina legacy as the first state where gold was discovered.
Guestrooms balance the old and the new with antique fixtures and modern touches to create a residential feel. The Great Room’s design pays tribute to the “Carolina Emperor,” the largest-cut emerald ever discovered in North America, first found in North Carolina. The room showcases that emerald color with gold and gray accents.
The hotel’s spa also gets a facelift with a new color palette of warm neutrals and soft powder blue. Rustic furniture, including natural teak root credenzas, further enhance the relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, The Lodge at Ballantyne, a 35-room private accommodation located on the campus, is getting a new look with a fully renovated lobby as well as rooms.
