Kilbourne Group has named Aparium Hotel Group the hospitality management partner for an as-yet-unnamed hotel and restaurant within Block 9, an 18-story mixed-use development planned for downtown Fargo, North Dakota. The development, which will be anchored by a new corporate headquarters for R.D. Offutt Co., is expected to break ground this year and debut in 2020.
Chicago-based Aparium, one of Boutique Design’s 2017 Up-and-Coming Hoteliers, will oversee operations for the hotel and food and beverage components, as well as spearhead the property’s branding, programming and positioning of the development.
To be constructed on what is now a surface parking lot, Block 9’s hotel component will include 110 keys rooms spread over five floors, as well as a ground floor flagship food and beverage venue. Project participants say the hotel and restaurant will be constructed and programmed with local influences to best capture the spirit of Fargo.
Upon completion, the Block 9 development will also feature multiple meetings and events spaces, condominiums, Class A office space, additional ground floor retail and an open-air public plaza with year-round public events and programming.
“Block 9 is an incredible development that will take the energy and excitement of downtown Fargo to a new level, and we’re honored to be part of it,” says Mario Tricoci, co-founder and ceo of Aparium Hotel Group. “We’re eager to work alongside Kilbourne Group and the Block 9 team to infuse a signature Aparium Hotel Group style of hospitality into the development, as well as meet with the various local makers, artisans and businesses that will help to make this hotel an emblem of Fargo.”
Mike Allmendinger, president of Kilbourne Group, a locally based developer, adds: “We are delighted to have found a strong and unique hotel partner in Aparium, whose track record of projects promises a hospitality experience that reflects and amplifies all that is unique and vibrant about Fargo. With Aparium as our hospitality partner, Block 9 will be a celebration of downtown Fargo’s renaissance, creating uniquely Fargo experiences that locals can get excited about and a destination visitors will seek out. We are grateful to R. D. Offutt Co., whose commitment to bring its headquarters to downtown Fargo makes this project possible.”
Aparium’s expertise in creating memorable experiences is reflected in recent honors two of its properties won in the 2017 Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design. Its Detroit Foundation Hotel took home three awards: winner, Best Hotel Upscale, and finalist for Best Lobby Upscale and Best Guest Room Upscale; in addition, its Hotel Covington won the Best Hotel Midscale category.
