andBeyond’s new lodge in Chile’s Lake District is housed on a modern, organic farm just outside of Pucon. The design at the andBeyond Vira Vira was a collaboration between owners Michael and Claudia Paravicini, furniture designer Santiago Valdés, textile designer Marcela Rodriguez, and interior designer Cristian Valdés.
Design is grounded in a casual bohemian theme, with the main area built from lenga wood that frames massive windows. The property’s 12 villas, six suites and a five-room hacienda comprise local fixtures and furniture, such as textured Chilean rugs, hand-woven tapestries draping the walls and floors, artifacts from the Mapuche tribe, rehabbed antiques, and artwork from local artists, such as sculptor Mariana Canepa.
Established in 1991, andBeyond designs high-end tours in 15 countries in Africa, five in Asia, and four in South America. It owns and operates 29 lodges and camps in safari, scenic and island locations.
