Apple Leisure Group (ALG) and Grupo Inversor Hesperia (GIHSA) have formed a strategic alliance to operate four resorts in Spain under the AMResorts brands. The partnership came after GIHSA decided to terminate a management contract with NH Hotels, which Minor Intl. recently acquired.
As part of the conversion process, GIHSA will invest more than $22.9 million to refresh the four properties, which are currently operated under the Hesperia flag, and raise the quality to AMResorts’ brand standards. Starting next year, two will operate under the adults-only Secrets Resorts & Spas brand, and the other two will join family-friendly flags Dreams Resorts & Spas and Amigo Resorts. Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa will open in March, followed by Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa and Amigo Fuerteventura Resort in May. In November 2019, Dreams Lanzarote Resort & Spa will debut.
AMResorts is a resort brand management company with 55 resorts and 21,000 rooms in its portfolio, and an additional 10,000 rooms under development. With this deal, the company moves forward in its expansion strategy in the EMEA region. GIHSA is one of Spain’s largest hotel groups, with a significant presence in urban and leisure destinations. The company has 28 properties in its portfolio.
