Energy-Efficient Prototypes Prove WAC's Dedication to 'Responsible Lighting'
W2 Architectural Lighting, a division of WAC lighting and a leading manufacturer and designer of specification grade products for the architectural markets, introduced Organic Light Emitting Device (OLED) fixture prototypes at the 2009 Lightfair International. New debuts included energy-efficient, sustainable products, the OLED mini chandelier and the OLED wall scone. The wall scone features six color changeable three-inch OLEDS, while the chandelier uses eight colorful, transparent, one-inch OLEDS. Offering bright, colorful images with a wide viewing angle lower power and high contrast ratio, OLEDs are monolithic with each layer deposited on the other. They can be constructed on glass or fabricated on plastic and other flexible films, as they turn energy to light instead of heat. All of these characteristics make OLED a versatile display technology, giving designers and specifiers a glimpse into the future of architectural lighting. “Our OLED prototypes reflect WAC Lighting's commitment to 'Responsible Lighting' and sustainable, energy efficient lighting,” said Shelley Wang, President of W2 Architectural Lighting.
