Event features design contests
Singapore’s inaugural furniture design week, SingaPlural, will include two design contests: the 48 Hours Showroom Makeover Challenge and 30 Chairs LifeStories.
For the first event, designers will revamp existing furniture showrooms at Park Mall. Participating furniture retailers include Xtra, Cellini Design, AIR, Acanthus Collection and Scanteak.
The second event invites 30 participants to create a design incorporating a Singapore “Kopitiam” chair. Participants include Asylum, the design team behind Wanderlust Hotel; Kelvin Teo, founder of Space Sense interiors; and Singapore-based furniture design company Oon. The chairs will be displayed as part of Design *Scape, a local furniture design showcase.
SingaPlural is held in conjunction with the International Furniture Fair Singapore, ASEAN Furniture Show, Deco Asia and The Hospitality Show 2012 at the Singapore Expo from March 9 to 12.
