Carpet maker to double production capacity
OW Hospitality is investing an estimated $30 million to expand its carpet manufacturing business internationally. The plans include the purchase of eight new high-speed Axminster looms that will be divided between manufacturing facilities in Cairo; Tianjin, China; and an “unnamed location.” To facilitate this expansion, parent company Oriental Weavers Group will integrate OWH under its key management structure that’s used for its other flooring-related business.
“The assets and synergies of our many other floor covering operations will be fully utilized to provide the best possible offerings and service to the worldwide hospitality market,” says Mohamed Farid Khamis, chairman of Oriental Weavers Group.
Michael Riley, ceo and managing director for OWH, says that Khamis has agreed to double production capabilities within 3 years and expects to manufacture Axminster carpets on three continents by 2015. In addition, OWH will introduce printed carpet to its product offerings.
