Japanese designers Nendo and Tokujin Yoshioka collaborate
Japanese Designers Nendo and Tokujin Yoshioka have collaborated with Moroso on two decidedly left-of-center furniture pieces inspired by the beauty and capricious nature of the weather.
Nendo, a brand new collaborator with Moroso has designed a plump-as-a-dewdrop ottoman with strips of black and white leather criss-crossing the piece, adding a high level of three dimensionality. The 60s-esque piece has a psychedelic flair and comes in two sizes: 27 by 43 and 47 by 13.
Cloud, designed by longtime partner Yoshioka, elicits the texture and whimsy of a cloud, initially crafted from paper for a high-concept design but now, in production, will feature a “paper-inspired” textile and three seat sizes as well as an ottoman.
“In recent years, I have been fascinated by the elements of nature, because they are not deliberate or on purpose but have the beauty born of coincidence beyond human imagination,” said Yoshioka. “I have pondered expressing the texture of material in nature through industrial product. For example, I find beauty in paper when it rather scrambled or torn. This new product for Moroso is reminiscent of clouds in the sky and the flow the water, which are breathed in one’s memories.”
