Boutique locale to open next year
Developer CRM Real Estate has selected Kimpton Hotels to run a 161-room hotel in the landmark Schofield Building in downtown Cleveland, the San Francisco Business Times reports. The hotel is slated to open in 2013 in the 110-year-old office building.
“Cleveland's downtown business district is ripe for a unique boutique hotel, particularly one that showcases such an iconic, historic property as the renowned Schofield Building,” said Kimpton ceo Michael Depatie. “For us, it's especially exciting to see the demand for the Kimpton brand and the boutique concept in general spreading to more mainstream cities in the Midwest and other areas of the country outside the urban centers of New York, L.A. and San Francisco.”
In addition to the guest rooms, the hotel will include a chef-driven restaurant typical of a Kimpton property, 7,400 square feet of meeting and event space and an outdoor roof terrace, according to the Business Times. The developers are also building ground floor retail and 25 luxury apartments on the building's top four floors.
