(February 2012) posted on Wed Feb 22, 2012

Will operate as Commune Hotels & Resorts

The new lifestyle hotel company that was formed when Joie de Vivre and Thompson Hotels merged has changed its name to Commune Hotels & Resorts. The new parent company had been operating under the name JT Hospitality since the October merger.

In a recent statement, company executives wrote: “Our ethos is about individuality, community, locations that are authentic to their environment and the kind of service that exceeds guests’ expectations and makes travel exciting again.”

Since the merger, Commune Hotels has opened three properties: Thompson’s Belgraves in London, The Saguaro Scottsdale and The Saguaro Palm Springs. The company has also signed management contracts for Thompson properties in Chicago and Miami; and Joie de Vivre hotels in Honolulu and Palo Alto, Calif. The company also plans to expand in Asia, Latin America and Europe.

A redesigned Joie de Vivre website will be rolled out this summer along with the brand’s new name, JDV Collection. In addition, a hotel brand that combines attributes of Thompson and Joie de Vivre will debut later this year.
