Davidson Hotels & Resorts is teaming with Dawson Design Associates (DDA) to launch the Hotel Zephyr at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. The 361-key property—currently home to a Radisson hotel—spans an entire block and will remain open throughout the renovation, which is slated for completion this spring
Designers are incorporating scrap materials in the hotel’s redesign, including recycled corrugated metal, cargo containers, upcycled nautical materials and shipping crates. “Our design team’s inspiration grew from capturing the spirit of rough and rowdy sailors and infusing thematic elements throughout the hotel to create the fresh spirit of Hotel Zephyr,” says Andrea Dawson Sheehan, DDA’s art director and ceo.
Many of the waterfront guest quarters will feature balconies, and the hotel’s communal gathering areas will be equipped with games, social activities and fire pits. “We’re creating a hotel for travelers who are seeking a unique, authentic San Francisco experience,” said Carmen Cruz, general manager of Hotel Zephyr. “Our promise at Hotel Zephyr is to inject a sense of discovery, amusement and wonder into an upscale hotel experience.”
The property was acquired by Bethesda, Md.-based Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in December 2013 and is operated by Davidson.
