Bedner moves to board chairman


Hospitality design consultancy HBA has named its new management team, in the wake of co-founder Michael Bedner transitioning to board chairman. “I look forward to the next generation of leaders to elevate the group to new heights, taking an ever-increasing role in the hospitality design space internationally,” says Bedner.

With Bedner’s move, HBA announces the following appointments:

*Ian Carr and René Kærskov will serve as co-ceos of HBA;

*Ilija Karlusic and Andrew Moore will serve as co-presidents of HBA Asia Pacific;

*See Ping Wang will serve as principal in HBA’s Shanghai office;

*Howard Pharr remains president of HBA Americas, Europe and Middle East;

The company said the partners completing its new generation of HBA leaders include Inge Moore in London; Connie Puar in Singapore; Alicia Loo, Miguel Baeza and Kathleen Dauber in Los Angeles; and Mathew Liu in Hong Kong.

HBA was created in 1964 by Howard Hirsch and Michael Bedner, and the firm has grown to have more than 800 employees in 13 offices on four continents. HBA is currently planning to expand its regional office in Dubai by more than 30 designers, and also recently launched three new initiatives: HBA STUDIO, a branch created to design two- and three-star brands in China and India; the Canvas art consultancy; and the Illuminate lighting consultancy.
