Interior designer Hans Galutera has launched a new studio, HG Designworks LLC. With offices in New York and Melbourne, Australia, the venture offers a range of interior design services, including luxury residential, multi-housing and high-end hospitality projects.

“Our interior design schemes always include creative interior detailing as well as conceptual architectural planning of each unique location,” says Galutera, the firm’s founder and ceo. “We offer interior architectural drawings, and managing the collaborative process with all teams involved. This gives real value to the client by making a substantial impact in the functionality of interior space, but also increases financial return of their investment with the interior design solutions.”
In addition to restaurants and hotels, the former BG Studio Intl. co-founder and principal’s past work includes the creation and completion of design concepts for Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises.
Galutera is also the New York chapter president of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA); an honorary member of the Society of British and International Design; and a professional member of the Design Institute of Australia.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts has hired Michael Deitemeyer as ceo. Deitemeyer was previously Omni Hotels & Resorts’ president. He will also serve on Interstate’s board of directors.
Keith Biumi has joined Choice Hotels Intl. Inc. as regional vice president, membership development for the Ascend Hotel Collection. Biumi was previously regional vice president, upscale development and franchise sales at Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG).
Choice Hotels Intl. Inc., Lieben Group LP and Nivea Hospitality have opened the first Sleep Inn hotel to feature the brand’s new design prototype, in Galion, Ohio. The exterior design was created in collaboration with Portland, Oregon-based C2K Architecture, while much of the FF&E were developed by the brand’s in-house team. Cauhaus Design of Frederick, Maryland, worked as an interior design consultant on the project. The 62-key, new-build property’s guest rooms include spa-like bathrooms with frameless glass showers and free-standing vanities.

The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, Curio Collection by Hilton, is teaming with lifestyle and fashion brand Trina Turk to create custom poolside cabanas as part of the Florida property’s $100 million renovation. The four cabana designs will feature fabrics and patterns from Trina Turk’s 2017 collection. They will also be home to upcoming pop-up shops and specialty experiences in collaboration with Trina Turk throughout the year. The resort is slated to reopen at the end of the month.

Emser Tile, a Los Angeles-based designer, marketer and producer of tile and natural stone, has moved its Salt Lake City branch to a larger facility with 22,000 sq. ft. of space. The company also plans to open a distribution center in Virginia this spring, marking a total of 75 sales and service locations throughout North America.
