Pact includes refurbishing studios’ lounges
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Abbey Road Studios have entered a global partnership agreement that gives Fairmont guests the opportunity to visit and record songs at the famous recording studios in London. The partnership extends Fairmont's relationship with EMI Music, which owns the Abbey Road Studios.
One of the first elements of the new partnership is collaboration between Abbey Road Studios and The Savoy, a Fairmont-managed hotel. Following up on the major restoration of that hotel in late 2010, the team at The Savoy will refurbish the studios' lounges.
“The Savoy and Abbey Road Studios are both globally renowned iconic British buildings and brands, and we are delighted to be bringing some of The Savoy's sharp style of London's High Society to the legendary Abbey Road Studios,” said Kerin McDonald, the studios’ head of brand and marketing. Brian Richardson, Fairmont’s vice president, brand marketing and communications, said "over the last few years, our music programming with EMI has been an exciting element that many of our guests have really appreciated and enjoyed, so to be expanding this initiative with such a recognized name in the recording industry is truly exciting.”
Opened in 1931 as the world’s first purpose-built recording studio, Abbey Road Studios has been the site of numerous landmark recordings by such bands and artists as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush and Oasis.
