Joe McInerney, chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), has received the 2012 Person of the Year Award from The Boutique and Lifestyle Lodging Association (BLLA).

McInerney spent the first 25 years of his career with Sheraton, before serving as president and ceo for Hawthorn Suites, Travelodge, Forte Hotels and the Pacific Asia Travel Association. In addition, he spent the past 12 years as the ceo of AH&LA.

“Joe’s contributions to the industry are legendary and many,” says John Russell, conference chair of the BLLA’s Leadership Symposium. “He reorganized AH&LA to meet the needs of our ever changing industry and has been extremely supportive of other hospitality organizations. Joe has not only helped the travel industry domestically but internationally as well.”
