T he Distrikt Hotel opened today in Manhattan, celebrating the notorious borough’s myriad “distrikts,” with 32 neighborhood-themed floors designed by New York-based OTTE Architecture.

The sleek skyscraper features iconic backlit collages by Chris Rubino─enormous pieces of art comprised of more than 10,000 photographs, capturing the varying essence of SoHo, The Village, Chelsea, Midtown East and West, the LES, Tribeca, Harlem and the Financial District.

The hotel lobby follows suit with a New York-centric design boasting an 11-foot green “living wall” representing Central Park, a subway themed elevator bank and an installation inspired by Manhattan’s grid.

The Distrikt hotel has 155 guestrooms residing on West 40th Street between 8th and 9th avenues, outfitted with supple Frette bedding and robes as well as ECRU New York bath amenities. The upper floors offer expansive views of the city, the Hudson River, and in some cases, both.

Collage, a modern café located in the lobby serving up authentic streets of New York-inspired cuisine crafted from fresh ingredients from local purveyors as well as a slew of local microbrews and signature cocktails.
