Desires Introduces first LEED property to Dominican Republic

M iami-based brand Desires Hotels has announced an addition to its collection which will be the first LEED certified property in the Dominican Republic, according to a company-issued release.

The Cliffs Ocean Resort, situated between Puerto Plata and Samana, is set to open in the summer of 2011. The resort’s first 102 rooms mark the first phase of development for the property, which will also include a luxury spa with an array of Asian treatments, a beach club bar and cigar lounge, fitness center and helipad – for those uber-important guests. Rooms will feature private terraces with views of the ocean and mountains. The resort is situated close to the Robert Trent Jones Sr. Playa Grande Golf Course, famous for its proximity to crystal turquoise waters and white powder beaches.

Other hotels that will soon open in the Desires collection are Cassa in New York City, Villas Cesar in St. Petersburg, Fla., and the Charlee in Medellin, Columbia.
